Bridal Makeover Tips

Tips from a makeup artist who
specializes in enhancing your
natural beauty.

The thought of a bridal makeover can be a little scary for the bride-to-be who wears (or needs) little or no everyday makeup. In fact she’s quite comfortable with her natural look and is not looking for any major transformations. On her wedding day, she wants to recognize the face that’s staring back at her in the mirror. Yet, she is aware that this very special day in her life is not business as usual.

Three brides-to-be asked Meredith Marshall to use her artistry to enhance their natural beauty and bring out their inner glow with a little help from MAC cosmetics.

“A bride should radiate her wholesome inner beauty. With my bridal makeover, I strive to bring out her assets while keeping the look clean and defined,” says Meredith.
“I enhance her best facial features with contouring. As a general rule, the lighter colors bring out the feature and the dark makeup minimizes them,” Meredith warns that effective contouring is an art form that takes a lot of practice. “But it really does pay off,” she adds, “and contouring is especially important when you’re being photographed with black and white film. Because there is no color, it’s all about shadows.” Meredith offers the following makeup tips to soon-to-be brides:

  • Don’t wait until your wedding day to
experiment. Start early exploring looks and colors with which you’re comfortable.
  • Search through magazines to find a look
    that you like.
  • Don’t shy away from shimmer. It’s the
perfect way to enhance your bridal
    radiance.
  • While bronzes are still popular, color is
making a comeback on the lips and cheeks.
  • Make a special effort to find a foundation
    that matches your skin tone.
  • Make sure you use waterproof mascara.
  • Put your powder, foundation and lip
products in a little bag so you can touch
up your makeup during that wondrous
    but long day.
  • If your skin is oily, an oil-absorbing
    powder is a must.
  • Seek the services of a professional
makeup artist to apply your makeup on
your wedding day. You’d be amazed at the
subtle difference it will make and it’s one
less thing you have to do.
  • Beware of overly-dramatic makeup
trends that could date your pictures.

In conclusion, Meredith reiterates, “Remember, if you start early, you’ll be ahead of the game. You won’t have to be concerned with unexpected allergic reactions or other horror stories that will spoil your day. It will give you time to find the right look that will work for you.”
