Against all odds, the long-awaited issue is here … and the lessons learned have made us stronger!

"From the fire, to the limit, to the wall. For a chance to be with you I’d gladly risk it all….” Some of you may not remember the lovely and feisty Chaka Kahn’s passionate recording of how far she would go to pursue her dream of love. But all of us can appreciate the intense emotions that the lyrics engender.

As an engaged couple, you share a beautiful, unique story that has led you to this point. Your wedding day is your dream and the rite-of-passage that will take you to the next dimension of your journey together.

Along the way, and even thereafter, your relationship will face extenuating challenges and unforeseen obstacles. But your love and passion for each other will empower you to stretch beyond your normal limits to brave the storms.

At FOR YOU, our dream is to create a realistic bridal magazine that will enrich both your wedding planning process and your married life. Although we’re faced with incredible challenges as a self-published, start-up African-American-owned magazine, we’re convinced that we have come through the fire because it was meant to be. Brides-to-be from all over the world have been asking for this issue. And the fact that you are reading it now is our marvelous affirmation that our prayers have been answered.

My dear readers, I wish you more love than you’ll ever need (if that’s possible) and I hope that you will continue to pass the word about our magazine, to your friends, to wedding planners, to potential advertisers. Acknowledge your power as a bridal consumer. Tell your wedding vendors that they should advertise in our nationally distributed publication. Exercise your bridal consumer p-o-w-e-r so that more couples can enjoy our magazine in years to come.
Whether you plan to tip down the aisle adorned in the elegance of “tradition” or you step to the beat of a “non-traditional”expression, know that our dreams are intertwined and that FOR YOU cannot exist without you.
